Rotary take over Year 5 for first lesson of the day!
We show a lively and colourful Powerpoint presentation demonstrating aims of Rotary and worldwide membership.
We describe international, naional and local projects.
As they are studying World War 2 this term a member of Rotary has previously visited the class to be a 'historical resource' as he was an evacuee. Four of the slides show how Rotary Clubs supported the war effort during this period.
One of the team is a Rotaractor who tells them about the younger side of Rotary.
We give them an exercise to complete during which time we support their work groups.
They read out the answers to the exercise and finish with turning their work sheets into a quote- demosnstrating the need for team work.
Following the lesson, as part of their term's schedule, they are asked to complete a piece of persausive ariting in the form of a letter to a potential evacuee about the advantages of coming to Buckingham from London.
In the following weeks we and the teaching staff select the winner and runner up and present prizes and cerificates at an assembly.
