Rotary Club of Potters Bar

Today saw me on a journey (with Noel of course) to Potters Bar. It has always amused me (simple mind you know!) that Potters Bar meet in Brookmans Park and Brookmans Park meet in Potters Bar - why is that?! Following the usual barrage of emails and telephone calls, I was able to complete (with Stephen Sypula's great help), the August TfL Newsletter. Hot off the press and circulated to all 29 Districts, Rotarians can now see what a superb job they have done with Focus on the Crocus. District 1260 alone have undertaken to purchase 225, 000 bulbs and rank 4th in the league table (how pleased am I...).

Work, Family, Rotary - I do believe I've almost got that in correct order!!

I have to say that being a working Rotarian (as many of you are), I thought I'd be able to fly the flag and say that you can do the DG role and maintain your work/life balance. At the moment I'm not so sure...

NO CLUB VISITS!

Today is a day of Rotary 'business' - the morning has been mine to waste on email and scanning the internet, great fun but where does the time go? 12.30pm and off to meet GSE Coordinator Gary Eastman to sign papers and discuss the impending visit to New Orleans by Neville Hanks, Kate Lang, Hayden Littlewood and Natalie Sullivan, who will be supported by Team Leader Rtn Pamela Burns.

Harpenden Village Rotary Club

Off for meal number two today and a return visit to Harpenden (remember last week, they held Classics on the Common - I was keen to find out the end result!). Harpenden Village RC are just about to relocate from their exisitng venue, so it was a last chance to visit the Conservative Club before it gets 'redeveloped'!

Tonight Rtn Tony Freeman (Hitchin Tilehouse) escorted me. It was good to have some time with Tony and he is a bit of a 'Sage [...]

Watford Rotary Club

This was the first of two visits to Watford RC - they are holding their traditional lunch time meeting (which I attended today) and now also run an evening meeting to support the new members to their Club wwo have joined since the closure of Bushey and Oxey at the end of June this year.

Noel and I had a really good time listening to the exchange of banter and joining in the fun of a 'mock' handover... 'to me, to you, to you, to me...' sprun [...]
