Another visit was to Teachers Warehouse. No not the whiskey type. Would you believe that th US Government do not supply pens, papers and other commodities for primary schools. They have to e provided by parents if they can afford it. If they can't then the teachers have to get them out of yheir own pockets - $1000 a year. So the three Rotary clubs in Bloomington have now got a warehouse and they collected donated items which teachers can go and collect free of charge.
Had a cookout at my hosts house last night with all team and their hosts attended. Charles, Mark and me got in the host tub. What I do for Rotary?

Collected at 8.30am and went to Princeton Court and saw justice in action in a very informal manner. Prisoner in orange jump suit and shackled at his ankles. Looked a mean dude!!! The Judge knew who we were and spoke directly to us for about 10 minutes and asked if we had any question. This would not happen in UK. All found this very interesting and fascinating. Then tour of a newspaper facility. Then another lunch and presentation followed by a tour of Princeton Hospital. Smaller than ours but had far better facilities. Turn around in ER is 70 minutes max. Then a tour of a clock factory and a tyre retread unit. Then to a restaurant for dinner and back to our hosts by 9pm. I don't know aout the others but I went to bed shattered. Tommorrow I have an appointment with a Chiropratice as am having trouble with my back. But I am a martyr to it!!!!!

Collected from Conference Hotel at 10am and then taken to a Monastary with a gift shop called 'For Heavens Sake" Very interesting and beautiful Church.
Then taken to lunch where a City Councillor and a Polioced Patrol Officer gave a talk. Officer was humerous and showed us all the equipment he carries. All very interested and I got to ride in his Police Car - still a big kid at heart. Then to see two refurbished railway carriages and then onto Abraham Lincolns museum where we saw a mock up of the cottage he lived in on the original site. Again very intersting. Now relaxing in our new host's home.

Then on to Sheriff's Office and met Captain Gregg Duke to view building and the County Jail and Court House. Then to Columbus Bar run by the Power House Brewery with 20 different beers.

Another hectic but enjoyable day. I went out for breakfast and had biscuits and gravy? Very nice. Then we all went to Columbus Information Centre followed by 1 hour walking tour. Then to Cummins Engineering Officers and met with the person responsible for its Foundation.
On to lunch and then a visit to a very impressive High School where they facilitate rather than teach. Basic principles being Trust, Respect and Responsibility. We were shown around by two 14 year old students who were polite, articulate and very confident which I suspect was typical of all the students.

Attended Columbus Rotary Club for lunch. No presentation just an introduction of team. Then taken on vocational visits which were very interesting. Charles got quite excited as he was driven along runway of local airport. Spending first night with our host family.

Arrived in Indiana at 9.30pm and met by several Rotarians with a 30 foot banner welcoming us. And I wondered how we would recognised them!!!!
Took us to a nearby hotel and crashed out at 110.30pm. The girls went earlier.
