Evansville - trains and fire trucks!

Started the morning off with a fascinating visit to a freight logistics firm. Once again amazed at how generous with their time people are: the President of the company spent an entire morning with me discussing freight in the US, and road vs rail.

It was the Queen's birthday today, so we prefaced our presentation to the Evansville Noon Club with the National Anthem. Some 200 members present, so probably our biggest audience to date!

While the others went shopping in the afternoon, I was lucky enough to be taken to see the CSX Railroad, viewing operations and even going in the cab! Many differences to the UK - some trains they even control remotely!

I know Rotarians have wide interests, but the highlight this evening was definitely a ride in club member's fire truck! Four of us stood in the bucket as he careered through town! And later we went up into the air....

Another great day.

Hi Charles!
Glad to hear that you are having such an interesting time. We particularly look forward to hearing about the CSX railroad when you get back...
