Work, Family, Rotary - I do believe I've almost got that in correct order!!

I have to say that being a working Rotarian (as many of you are), I thought I'd be able to fly the flag and say that you can do the DG role and maintain your work/life balance. At the moment I'm not so sure...

However, I am very glad that I work for myself as it has given me the flexibility to take on the role of DG, have a place on the RIBI Executive and be very actively engaged with Thanks for Life. These are all great experiences but each in their own right very time consuming. I am looking forward to meeting up with my peers on 22/23 August to ask how they are getting on with balancing their time, in particular DG Bob Barclay (D1240) as he is 'properly' employed in the Risk Management sector so is maintaining a Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm job whilst being DG. It will be an interesting reunion I'm sure.

However, one major bonus is that my family are very supportive so that is a big help, but I am acutely aware that I need to give a bit of time back to them. I am hoping that the cunning plan of undertaking the Club visits very early on (I'm finished on 25 Oct) will mean that I am able to get back on an even keel after the first quarter... so, watch this space to see how it goes!
