Watford Rotary Club
This was the first of two visits to Watford RC - they are holding their traditional lunch time meeting (which I attended today) and now also run an evening meeting to support the new members to their Club wwo have joined since the closure of Bushey and Oxey at the end of June this year.
Noel and I had a really good time listening to the exchange of banter and joining in the fun of a 'mock' handover... 'to me, to you, to you, to me...' sprung to mind as the IPP and President Michael removed and reapplied regalia for the year! President Michael was great fun as ever; he has a wealth of experience having been President on more than one occasion before and his friends at Watford take any opportunity to remind him!
During lunch I enjoyed great conversation with Rtn Naetha Uren. She works for American company Top Golf and has great experience in event management; she's already putting her professional skills into action for Watford RC and there is a real buzz in the air as she tells her friends around the room about the activities that are planned for the up coming events.
Modern technology was being utilised throughout the meeting. Not only did we have digital photography (I know most are using this now...) but video history was being captured! Gone were the written attendance records, instead we had video capture of everyone in the room... an easy an effective way of knowing who was around whilst creating an archive of activity and fellowship enjoyed at this weekly meeting - genius!
This was a real social visit and I thoroughly enjoyed myself; I'm looking forward to my return visit in September and wonder what the evening 'crew' will have in store...!
Watford Club was chartered in 1924 and has been involved in a vast array of projects over the years. They support Rotary activity across all avenues of service and enjoy a healthy membership of over 40 members. Kids Out features in the calendar each year as do many of the Districts Competitions that support our Youth Opportunities. This is a really fun Club and if you get chance, do pop in for lunch, you'd be made very welcome.
