			<title>Rotary Global Swimarathon</title>
			<link>http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/content/view/3076/198/</link>
			<description>

For the past 23 years, the Rotary Club of Grantham has held a community
fundraising RotarySwimarathon event, raising over &amp;pound;550,000 for local charities
and deserving causes.

Back in June 2010, long-serving event chairman Roger Graves had a
 Eureka  moment.

 2012 - Year of the London Olympics - let's hold a Global Swimarathon!!

Cue uncontrollable laughter......

Fast forward to February 2011. An official Guinness World Record
attempt registered for the most swimmers in the exact same hour, website
created, idea launched in Grantham- just one problem - how on earth do we
engage the rest of the world?!

Step forward brand new member Paul Wilson. His suggestion Why
not use social media?

Cue uncontrollable laughter.....

			<title>A Final Reflection</title>
			<link>http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/content/view/3075/198/</link>
			<description>

And
so it all comes to an end.

What
a great way to conclude the 2012 Rotary District 9680 1260 Group Study
Exchange program.

It
began with a cruise down the Thames from historic Henley, where already the
locals are gearing up for the world's most famous regatta in July. A typically
English picnic on the lawns outside the Henley boating museum topped off a most
relaxing day ahead of the farewell function that night.

More
than 60 Rotarians from each of the four areas that had hosted us gathered at a
Golf club near Chesham to watch the Aussies deliver their final presentation.

But
true to form, we came up with something new yet again, this time turning the
tables on the gathering with an impromptu Press Conference conducted by media
adviser Claire Thompson as members of the audience grilled the team on
everything from personal changes to thoughts on how the program could be
improved.

			<title>Wanted - Young Professionals For Trip to New Zealand</title>
			<link>http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/content/view/3074/198/</link>
			<description>

http://bit.ly/Hg1Kbh (http://bit.ly/Hg1Kbh)  or  http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/260en.pdf (http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/260en.pdf)

There is now a requirement to start the search for suitable candidates to make up a team of four or five young professional individuals who are interested in a life-changing opportunity to travel to Auckland, New Zealand. If we are able to find young people of the calibre who travelled recently to Australia (Emma, Nikki, Steven, Daniel and Andrew - and Team Leader Cheryl) then that would be brilliant - talk to Cheryl at the Wendover club if you want them to visit your Rotary Club.

Please can YOU help by starting to look for young professionals (men and women) within your Rotary Clubs' immediate locality. The criteria for possible candidates is not too difficult.

			<title>Snow Better Time To Embrace The Social Media Storm</title>
			<link>http://www.rotary1260.org.uk/content/view/3072/198/</link>
			<description>

Jon Snow remembers the days when journalists filed their stories through telex and were in the pub by lunch time.

Things have changed, he says.

 These days, where we used to drink, we now tweet, Snow said.

Snow now rises at 6am every morning to file his blog for Channel Four's news site and has almost 180,000 twitter followers.

He believes that, the Golden Age of journalism is nigh.

The Rotary Sydney Group Study Exchange Team were fortunate to be able to catch up with Snow during a visit to Channel Four and ITN's offices and studios today.

GSE Sydney team members Louise Schwarzkoff, Julia Holman, Steven Spierings, Claire Thompson and Team Leader Mike Wallace were joined by Amersham Rotarians Dieter Shaw, Chalmers Cursley, Nick Crabtree, Mike Mason and Diney Crabtree for the vocational visit in London which was a major highlight of the four-week exchange program.
