Written by Elizabeth Sheldon

This questionnaire was distributed to all incoming chairmen at the PEPs meeting in February and sent by email or post to those members not present.

The purpose of the questionnaire was to establish the position of the clubs in the district regarding PR and communications and to discover what are the clubs requirements.

43.14% of clubs responded, less than half, disappointing. The questionnaire can be found on the district website so if you have not completed it, please do so now.

District Assembly 2008 Presentation
Written by Elizabeth Sheldon

Many thanks to you all for attending the Assembly, we covered a lot of ground but there is still much to cover. I have deliberated whether to send you just the slides of the material we covered on the night but then decided to send everything to you so you can use it for your club if you deem it applicable. I hope the slides are self explanatory, if they are not then please let me know and I can go through them with you or even come to your club and do a presentation covering some of the subjects you consider suitable for your Rotarians.

You can download the PPT from 2008 District Assembly Presententation 2008 District Assembly Presententation 1.40 Mb

Good luck to you all in your new roles as PR and Comms. chairmen. Please use us (the committee) as a resource. We will be communicating with you all during the year and I hope to meet many of you on my travels around the district. In turn, please let us know of your successes. Bob Patch of Flitwick Vale had an excellent piece published in his local paper last week. Please upload articles to the district website. You must register as a user and then you will have access to upload text and pictures, it is up to all of us to make the district website an interesting place to visit for our members and those future members who come across it.

Thanks to you all for your participation.

Best regards

YiR

Rotary Easter Showcase
Written by Adminstrator User

The cold weather and snow drove the public into The Centre : Mk on Easter Saturday, where they were treated to a free day of fun for all the family put on by the Rotary clubs of District 1260 plus representation from District 1070, Rotaract and Inner Wheel. Visitors came from as far away as Cornwall and Manchester to have fun and learn about Rotary International.

There were 21 Rotary clubs present, each with a free fun activity for the family, with such games as Wii tennis, a surf simulator, golf chip and skittles. The children had to collect a coloured sticker from each stand and were then able to exchange it for a chocolate egg sponsored by Costco and 900 were given away. Adults participated in a free prize draw for three digital photo frames donated by Kodak, who also printed all the custom made leaflets and cards designed especially for the event.

Rotary Easter Showcase
Written by Adminstrator User

thumb_middletonThe Rotary Easter Showcase will display the family of Rotary, InnerWheel and Rotaract within District 1260 and surrounding districts. The idea isto show the public what we do and who we are, the work we do and the charitiesand good causes we support. In turn we hope this will bring new members to ourRotary family.

All the clubs in the immediate vicinity have now booked a stand, but afew spaces are still available. Each club stand will have an activity, adisplay of a charity or local organisation they support and details about theirclub.

The Showcase takes place on Easter Saturday, March 22nd 2008, at MiddletonHall in the Milton Keynes Shopping Centre. This is a vast space that we havebeen given for free. We aim to show Rotary as an active and dynamicorganisation, so to this end we are asking clubs to put on an activity thatwill attract children. Whilst the children are occupied, we can chat to theirparents.
