Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) and Pudsey Bear are all set for this year’s BBC Children in Need to help disadvantaged children across the country.
Rotary clubs across the country have been putting on a whole range of fun events, with help from everyone’s favourite yellow teddy, and are calling on the public to wear their spots and raise lots on Friday 18th November.
Clubs work tirelessly, throughout the year, to help young people fulfil their potential. To give Pudsey a boost, clubs are pouring energy into all sorts of great activities including meet Pudsey days, quiz nights, kids days out and there’s even a friendly boxing match. Be part of the fun by getting involved and you will help make a positive difference to a youngster.
RIBI President Burman says everyone is working hard: “This is a wonderful partnership between Rotary and BBC Children in Need. Every day, everywhere Rotary clubs are working hard to improve the lives of others and it is so fitting that we are linking with BBC Children in Need.

Rotarians have the opportunity to become local Leaders - a programme being launched by London 2012 to invite the nation’s organisers, planners and doer’s to get ready for the Games. London 2012 reveals all communities on Olympic Torch Relay route and invites the UK to welcome the Olympic Flame next summer
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) confirmed all the communities through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. The announcement of the 1,018 villages, towns and cities on the route means LOCOG has realised the aspiration of taking the Olympic Flame to within an hour’s journey time of 95% of the population. In fact, over 95% of the population will be within just 10 miles of the Olympic Flame next summer. The street by street detail of the route will be confirmed next year.

The president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) proved Rotary is a hands-on organisation when he abseiled from the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
President Ray Burman said:“My visits to Rotary districts have all involved doing an activity but I definitely reached new heights with the Spinnaker Tower.“I and District Governor Caroline Millman raised funds for PolioPlus, the campaign to eradicate polio for good. The abseil was a drop of 350 feet but it is worth to protect tiny children in the world from this crippling and sometimes fatal disease.”The President's visit to D1110 also took in the Wheelhouse which is supported by the Rotary Club of Fareham. This drop-in café on the Solent beach front has disabled facilities and is available for use by charities and other organisations.
District Governor Caroline Millman said: “We were delighted to have the national president with us and gave him and wife Vicky a flavour of just some of the many ways in which Rotary clubs help their local communities.”
The next stop on President Burman's national tour will be the East Midlands where he will visit Trade Aid, Rutland Sailability, Grantham Mencap and other supported charities.
