The Prostate Cancer Dawn Walk took place on 2nd September 2007, well done to all those involved. Please start thinking about the RIBI Community Service Cup. Think about some one member or not who has done something good for the Community, like forming a club for people with an illness that they might be suffering from or some other worthwhile cause. There are people out there so please inform us so that we can put in a nomination to RIBI . Your Committee need the information by mid November 2007 at the latest. |

Support For Prostate Cancer Charity goes from Strength to Strength...
After a very successful Half Marathon at Milton Keynes where members ofHitchin Tilehouse Rotary Club raised approximately £3,500 the Club thenwent on to organise the first of (what we hope to be) many Dawn Walks. The Dawn Walk was started in 2005 by Maureen Dixon (a non Rotarian)in Brighton in remembrance of her late husband who died from prostatecancer. The walk was a success and The Prostate Cancer Charity askedHitchin Tilehouse to assist in promoting the walk within the Rotaryframework. |

Is your club looking fora good community-based service project that is effective satisfying and easy toorganise? The Rotary Lend-a-Hand Project is hands on service above self. It doesnot require Rotarians to reach for their cheque books. It is all about helpingothers and there are tremendous PR opportunities.
In a nutshell....on one day, Rotarians visitthe homes of the elderly and infirm to help out with simple jobs about the homeand garden that are beyond the ability and means of those in need. There is no charge to the recipient andRotarians take all necessary materials and equipment with them. |
