Learning & Development

robert-bewell.jpgRole of the Committee

The formal role of the Learning & Development Committee is to support the District Governor, the District Governor Elect and the District Governor Nominee in training club and district leaders and overseeing the training plan for the district.

Background

Rotary is a great organisation which does an enormous amount of good throughout the world. Almost all the work is done at the grassroots by clubs and individual Rotarians and groups of Rotarians. The Avenues of Service committees can help clubs and individual Rotarians with planning and implementing the projects that lie behind the good that Rotary does.

An important role of the Learning & Development Committee is to support and assist willing and enthusiastic Rotarians as they step forward to lead their clubs. There are specific briefings planned by the District team - see the Meeting Information below for dates for the coming year.

There is a Downloads Area for Learning & Development containing meeting notes and other documents - some of the resources are only accessible by Rotarians, so ensure you are registered and logged in.

What is Change?
Written by Chalmers Cursley

question_mark_3.jpgTen Ways to Look at Change:

  1. Today’s change is tomorrow’s norm.
  2. Change is as good or as bad as you make it.
  3. If you are a change oriented leader expect others to paint a bull’s eye on your back and then shoot arrows at you.
  4. Substitute the word “growth” for “change.” It will revolutionize your perspective about new things.
  5. When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.
  6. Change is a challenge and an opportunity, not a threat.
