SHELTERBOX Volunteers Wanted Print E-mail

shelterbox2.jpgThe mission of Shelterbox is to deliver immediate relief to victims of natural and other disasters anywhere around the world. These include earthquakes, hurricanes, wars, floods, landslides, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and typhoons.

District 1260 has been a great supporter of Shelterbox (www.shelterbox.com ) since its inception and shortly before Christmas I attended a weekend seminar to set up a network of Rotary District co-ordinators.

Shelterbox was founded by Tom Henderson of the Rotary club of Helston-Lizard in Cornwall as a millennium project and was registered as a UK Charity in 2000. The directors of Shelterbox are all members of the Helston-Lizard club. Rotary currently provide about 50% of the charity’s income.
I am now looking for volunteers for the support and promotion of Shelterbox and it is my intention to recruit some dedicated Rotarians around the District who are willing to help me.

Shelterbox would particularly like to extend their support from schools and anyone with school contacts would be most welcome.
