Wendover Cheese and Wine Tasting Print E-mail
Written by Bernard Pritchard

wendoverrotarycheesewinegroup2nl.jpgThe new emerging Club at Wendover held their first fund raising event on 20th May, when they organized a Wine and Cheese tasting at the Memorial Hall in Wendover.

The wines and cheeses were kindly provided by Waitrose and members of their staff talked about the samples offered.

It is interesting to compare the range of cheese and wine during the course of a couple of hours rather than making a comparison with something you tasted last week. Also you meet wines that were a part of your life years ago - a Riesling, brought back memories of  student and post student days when a wine from Yugoslavia was so popular!

wendoverrotarycheesewine7nl.jpgIt was an encouraging start for the members of the new club. There were more than 70 people present who, judging by the level of noise were having a good time. There was a raffle to help gather funds to provide a suitably inscribed picnic table and support for a hospice.

Coffee, tea and delicious cakes provided to end a most successful evening. Support was given by surrounding Rotary Clubs was much appreciated as it helped welcome Wendover into the Family of Rotary.

A Thought...

glennestessl.jpg"One of the most wonderful things about Rotary is that it allows you to be part of something so much larger than yourself."

Glenn E. Estess Snr., RI President 2005.

Nothing Changes...

paul-harris.jpg"I would like to think that the pioneering days of Rotary have only just begun. There are just as many new things to be done as ever there were. Kaleidoscopic changes are taking place, many of them without our will. Even to hang on to the fringe of this fast-changing world is about all most of us can do. Rotary simply must continue to pioneer or be left in the rear of progress."

Paul Harris - The Rotarian February 1945
