A Christmas meesage from Laura Wake Print E-mail
Written by Laura Wake

laura wake.pngDear All,

I would like to give you an update for the end of the year so you know what I am doing at the moment.I am now studying at Loughborough College doing a course on Sports coaching. The work is really interesting and I enjoy going out into the local schools and working with the children although we did get thrown in at the deep end! It is great to be able to pass on some knowledge to the young children and they are usually very enthusiastic.

My training is going well. I am living on the university campus and that is also where I train which is handy.I train with Nick Dakin up here but Dave Rice is still involved with some aspects too. Dave went to a relay squad day in Slough with me recently, which I was invited to attend for the UKA junior 4x100m relay squad.

I am now well into my winter training it was quite hard the first couple of weeks getting used to a different training programme and group. There are about 14 in the group and we get on well so training is good. It is colder up here than in Hertfordshire so I am pleased with the extra layers when training!!!

I am hoping to go to the warm weather training camp at Easter, not sure where it will be yet but a couple of the possibilities were America or South Africa.

I hope to do a couple of indoor races over the next few months and will keep you informed of my progress throughout the winter.

Wishing everyone in the Rotary a very Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2010.

Laura

A Thought...

glennestessl.jpg"One of the most wonderful things about Rotary is that it allows you to be part of something so much larger than yourself."

Glenn E. Estess Snr., RI President 2005.

Nothing Changes...

paul-harris.jpg"I would like to think that the pioneering days of Rotary have only just begun. There are just as many new things to be done as ever there were. Kaleidoscopic changes are taking place, many of them without our will. Even to hang on to the fringe of this fast-changing world is about all most of us can do. Rotary simply must continue to pioneer or be left in the rear of progress."

Paul Harris - The Rotarian February 1945
